AIPIO Annual Awards Scheme
Each year AIPIO hosts an Annual Awards Scheme that is comprised of awards in five categories. Awards are only awarded where nominations are of the highest standard and there is only one award per category.
Publication Award
The AIPIO Publication Award is intended to stimulate research and writing on issues relevant to the theory and practice of intelligence in Australia.
(Self-nomination permitted, Nominee does not have to be AIPIO member to be eligible)
The Publication Award recipient will receive:
- An AIPIO trophy
- Cash prize of $500
- Winning paper will be published in the AIPIO Journal, subject to Editorial review
Individual Award
The AIPIO Individual Award is intended to recognise an individual who has made a distinguished contribution to the intelligence profession in Australia. The nominated individual’s contribution need not be limited to the preceding 12 months, and can be for the individual’s long-term contribution to the profession.
(Independent Nomination, Nominee does not have to be AIPIO member to be eligible)
The Individual Award recipient will receive:
- An AIPIO trophy
- Free registration at AIPIO National Conference (Note: travel expenses and accommodation are not included)
Organisation Award
The AIPIO Organisation Award is intended to recognise an organisation that has made a distinguished contribution to the intelligence profession, with a particular focus on innovation in tradecraft development or application. The organisation’s contribution must have been in the last 12 months.
(Independent Nomination, Nominee does not have to be affiliated with AIPIO to be eligible)
The Organisation Award recipient will receive:
- AIPIO Certificate of Merit
Young Intelligence Professional Award
The Emerging Intelligence Professional Award recognises excellence as an emerging professional across any intelligence sector. It is open to all Australian intelligence professionals who are full or associate members of AIPIO and aged up to 35 years, or with less than 5 years of experience in the profession. Your award submission should outline work that has been undertaken in the last 12 months that demonstrates excellence in intelligence.
(Self-nomination permitted)
The Young Intelligence Professional Award recipient will receive:
- An AIPIO trophy
- Cash prize of $250 OR half price registration at the AIPIO National Conference (Note: travel expenses and accommodation are not included)
Innovation In Intelligence Award
The AIPIO Innovation in Intelligence Award recognises a team or person responsible for noteworthy innovation in one or more of the fields of collection, analysis, collaboration, synthesis, report or intelligence leadership. Nominees should be full or associate members of AIPIO.
Your award submission should outline work that has been undertaken in the last 12 months that demonstrates innovative intelligence. In addition, describe how the nominee’s creativity has adapted intelligence practices to meet the needs of and add value to their customers, business/organisation or specific situations.
The Innovation in Intelligence Award recipient will receive:
- An AIPIO trophy
- Cash prize of $500 OR free registration at the AIPIO National Conference for one person (Note: travel expenses and accommodation are not included)
Key Dates
Nomination forms (including a copy of the paper for the Publication Award) are to be returned to the Memberships team by email to no later than 5.00pm AEST on 30 June 2023.
The AIPIO team will notify award recipients by 17 July 2023 and all awards will be presented during the AIPIO National Conference.
No serving AIPIO Board Member is eligible to receive an award.
